Top-Down Combat game

This page showcases a project that focused on 2 faction combat with large amounts of units. A crowd system was implemented to be able to run at least 2000 instances/soldiers on-screen, with high performance measured up to 6000. The crowd system makes it so that the instances update periodically, and only activate combat behavior when a number of conditions are met.

This image shows a vast amount of NPC instances on screen using the crowd system. It was tested with roughly 9000 instances, which does not run at 60 fps, although it is a huge step up from the 200 AI instances it could run before.
This animated image shows the ability to make combos and chain attacks to get better strikes such as a sweep and a double-bladed sword strike.
